Cindy Phelps Streit, Senior Warden

Lubbock became my home in 1997 when I married my husband, John, and moved here from Louisiana.  We have two children- John-Gamble, age 15, and GraceAnn, age 10.  Having been an Episcopalian my entire life, it was a great relief when we found an Episcopal church where we felt our children would experience a community of love, support, and spiritual nurturing.  Since joining St. Stephen's, I have been involved with Altar Guild, Grounds Use Committee, and Vestry. I am a clinical social worker and currently work at Texas Tech University as the Director of Field Education for the Social Work Program.  Through my job, I am able to be actively involved in the community, as well as work closely with college students.  I love supporting and encouraging my students as they prepare for a career of helping other people through life's challenges.  I also teach various classes in the community on topics relating to parenting and building strong relationships.
