Christian Education

Our Sunday School offerings are offered in an effort to better serve the ever-expanding group of young children here at St. Stephen’s.  Classes run from 10:15 AM until the children join us for communion during the 10:30 worship service. Read on to find out more . . .

Nursery (Birth through Age 2)
Our nursery at St. Stephen's is a beautiful new facility with plenty of room for your babies and toddlers. The walls are decorated with murals of Noah's Ark painted by one of our talented parishners, Dolores Bennett. This welcoming and joyful space is supervised by, Doris DoPadre who has had 12 years of experience caring for our tiniest. Doris is assisted by church volunteers who have all been trained in, Safeguards for Children and Youth.
Classes are divided as follows:
3yrs. to Pre-K; K-1st Grade; 2nd-3rd Grade; 4th-5th Grade; 6th-8th Grade; 9th-12th Grade

Children ages 3 through 5th Grade
These age groups will experience the Bible in a wonderful way. We are using the curriculum, Living the Good News, at all grade levels. This curriculum is lectionary-based, learner-centered, and experiential. Each week the children will bring home an activity in which the entire family can participate. These shared activities will strengthen the relationship between family and church. Children will gain tools developing relationships with God, and learn ways in which to apply their faith on a daily basis through dynamic, interesting and entertaining lessons. Although the same lessons will be taught to children from ages 3 through 5th grade, the activities will differ and are age appropriate.

This is an exciting time for our Sunday School, and you are invited to be a part of it! Classes 3yrs. - K and 1 - 3rd will be meeting in the two classrooms in Mann Hall. Stephanie Hernandez will instruct 3 yrs. - K, while Jennifer Hughes and Amy Kiker will team teach levels 1st - 3rd grades. Tina Brogan will be teaching 4 - 5th grades in the new classroom just off Parish Hall. Assisting with classes and substituting when needed are Brian Still, Aurora Farthing, Dana Richards and Nora Stubblefield.

St. Stephen's Episcopal Youth Community (EYC)
EYC is open to parish youth in grades 6-12. The mission of St. Stephen's EYC is to build fellowship and community with old and new friends, deepen Christian formation, and learn how to serve God and others. Through our time together, the group seeks to create a safe place to encourage individualism, interaction with each other, and a deeper knowledge of God.

Sr. High EYC (grades 9-12) meets on most Sundays, following the 10:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist for fellowship, food & fun. EYC members look forward to participation in a variety of outreach, Bible Study, and outreach activities throughout the year. For current EYC information: http://www.lubbockeyc.org/
