Beyond the Altar

Beyond-the-Altar ministers are licensed to take bread and wine from the Sunday services to members who are unable physically to join parishioners at a regular service.  They lead the two or three gathered folk in a brief service, recalling some of the week's service for them, and distribute the communion elements as they conclude with some of the traditional words from the Holy Table.  Training is provided for this service ministry.  Michael Pullen is the contact for both ministries.  Contact the church office for Michael's contact information.

"Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours."

St. Teresa of Avila

Hospital Visitors

Hospital Visitors assist the clergy in visiting parishioners and friends of St. Stephen's who are hospitalized or shut-in.   This ministry allows one to be the hands and face of God to those who are in need of the healing touch of grace. All that is required is a willingness to spend time with others.  Check the newsletter for roster information.
