4th Sunday after The Epiphany  -  January 29, 2012

Annual Parish Meeting is todayafter the 10:30 Holy Eucharist.
A potluck lunch will follow the meeting.

Vestry nominees standing for election to four 3-year terms are
Audra Day,  Meg Pfulger,  Gaylon Simmons,  Ruthann Tarbox.

Nominees for delegates to diocesan convention for four 2-year terms are
Debbie Copeland,  Dale Harris,  Julie Harris,  Britt Pharris,  Heidi Rapstine,  Jan Rigsby.

Additional nominations for both vestry and delegates may be made from the floor.
(Please determine the willingness of one to serve before placing his or her name in nomination.)

Next Sunday (Feb 5) is Souper Bowl of CaringSunday.  EYC youth here and at the other churches will be holding soup bowls to receive our donations as we depart the church.  A national program in force since 1990 on Super Bowl Sunday, the emphasis is on funding local outreach
programs as determined by each youth group.
Donations this year will benefit St. Benedict’s and Neighbor 2 Neighbor.

The Lubbock EYC group will meet at St. Paul’s at noon next Sunday (Feb 5) to enjoy pizza while gathering/tallying  the day’s Souper Bowl collections.  Pick-up time will be 1:00.

Saints & Sinners spring sign-up is underway in the office-area foyer.  Couples and singles are welcome to join small groups in meetings for dinner and fellowship to strengthen the parish community.  See sign-up sheets for more details.

Beyond the parish  .  .  .

St. Stephen’s outreach opportunities and their contact persons include the following:
· Dress a Girl Around the World (pillowcase dresses) — Ingrid Simmons 224-5464;
· toiletries for Hope Shalom (for hygiene packets) — Shirley Edwards 863-3448;
·   service projects at All Saints Episcopal School — Donna Perdue 368-6573;
·   staffing meal teams at St. Benedict’s Mission — Karen Bosscher 535-4191;
·   knit or crochet prayer shawls — Donna Perdue 368-6573.
 Baskets for donated items are on a corner table in the parish hall.

Two Safeguarding God’s Children classroom trainings are scheduled next month:
· February 12,    1:00 - 4 PM,  at St. Paul’s;
· February 18,  10 AM - 1 PM,  at St. Paul’s.
Complete details will appear in the February newsletter.
(Note:  All church staff, vestry personnel, VBS volunteers, Sunday school teachers, acolyte coordinators
and anyone else who works with children must take the training, per diocesan policy.)
